Hey! Congrats and welcome aboard. Some real miseries not saying hello, dont like to see blue faces!
Nice van, we got a brand new vanlast year and it is a great feeling.
My tip is to go reasonably local for your first outing. Pick a club type site with level concrete pitches and good facilities. Then if you forget something you can nip home, you can push the van on if reversing isnt your thing yet and basically dont have to rough it too much while you get used to the van. Choose it well, cause you never forget your first trip out - regardless of how many mistakes you make.
You wont regret it, despite the problems we had with ours getting it repaired under warranty, our caravan is our biggest investment as a family yet is the best thing we have ever done.
What we love is getting 2 weeks off, then going to a site a few hours away, then visiting 1 or 2 on the way home for a couple of nights - its great fun, try it.
We also do the sun seeking trick - look at the forecast then go to a site where the weather is looking good. Great fun again.
Some more tips, well get a little crate and fill it full of handy items. Here are some things we have been glad we have had..
Multitool Super glue Aspirin/Paracetamol/Plasters etc Small electric fan heater with thermostat Portable (aerosol can type) butane heater Electric toaster (handy at breakfast when the gas runs out!) Polythene bags Scissors Bread knife - once bought a lovely uncut loaf only to find i didnt have a bread knife! Matches/piezo gas lighter Spare towels - we keep two or three old towels on board - great for wiping down awnings or muddy feet Hand vacuum/push pull sweeper Disinfecting water tablets Mosquito repellant
Well there's a few ideas. Hope it helps and have a good time.
