I can't believe that, how awful.  As others have said, at least you and the family were all safe.  It could have ended so differently.  HOpe you get everything sorted out, and are able to get back on the road again.

Thanks for all the good wishes. In one way it feels so bad to be missing out on a holiday that we have spent months planning for and looking forward to but as you all say at least noone was hurt. When you see fire coming from the car and you're whole family is inside it is very scary. We were due to sail with Brittany ferries and they were very helpful. They were willing to delay the ferry as long as possible if we had a chance of getting there and have offered to help us make new arrangements to travel later in the week so we will get away.

I am so sorry to hear what happened to you and you family today.  I do hope you are insured and that you might be able to make a claim.   I would not let the garage away with it either.  Lets hope you do manage to get away next weekend.  You must all be vey upset just now.

I have to say that Brittany Ferries have been wonderful in rearranging our booking. The cabin type we had booked was not available next weekend so they have upgraded us at no extra cost and rather than charging us extra for changing the booking, they are sending us a voucher that can be used for another holiday.
