Hi, we have just been away in our caravan for the first time this season. We noticed that when we turned on the taps in the kitchen and shower room sinks, there was a leak at the bottom of the taps.

On closer inspection, the kitchen tap had a hairline crack in it from the top to the bottom which had been stuck with superglue by the previous owner and we hadn't noticed before-so at least we know why that was leaking.

But we are unsure why the bathroom tap is leaking aswell.

Anyway, we have since read that leaky taps can be caused by not leaving them open over the winter period during storage - has anyone else had this problem? do we have to buy a complete new tap for both areas or can we get away with buying just the replacement parts and any seals that are loose/damaged.

If anyone can help - it would be greatfully received.

Many Thanks,

If the tap is cracked then it needs replacing. You can ususally buy matched taps.

I've been there - forgotten to leave taps open even though the system was drained and had to buy new taps - they are usually not too difficult to get - depends on make - but I was shocked how much they cost - I am now more careful and sometimes even take taps off! Early spring can catch me out if we have been an away for an early break.

Did you buy it recently from a dealer? If you did then I would go back to them first and see if they will replace them, as a good will gesture.

Thank you guys,

That's good advice - I think we will do the same this year - another learning curve for a newish caravanner. We are just glad we noticed on a short trip away.

We are quite near to Jacksons of Arley and they normally have everything, so we shall what we can get - you are right though - they are very expensive to buy the whole unit.

I think they are the original taps from 1998 when it was built, so I suppose they have lasted quite well.

Thanks again lol
