We have n't yet used our caravan toilet - always stayed on sites with excellent facilities. We would like the option of using the toilet through - but we are not sure how to put the chemicals in and how much to put in. When we purchased the caravan we bought a blue and a red liquid - these have remained unopened so far. If we get the loo ready to use but do not use it - do you need to empty the chemicals out on leaving the site?
dont eat too many curries when you are on a CL, you are the one that has to empty the loo and it is the worst job in the world when you have a hangover :-)
if you look on some of the bungs on the cassete they have a measure on them so youi can just empty enough of blue/green chemical in there that it advises on side of bottle and green stuff i know our tank is approx 10 litres so again add as needed from bottle
There will be instructions on the bottles to guide you. Do be sure to add the 2 litres of water to the tank as the liquid needs to cover the paper and other solids.
Ordinary toilet paper is fine to use.
In use, we find it best to open the "hatch" before using.
Empty the cassette before it gets too full.
Once you have used up your bottle of blue, you might like to try the sachets of powder instead. A little more expensive but lighter to carry and very easy to use. You can just drop one through the open hatch and flush to add liquid.
Adding pink to the flush water is optional, we never do. Less to carry and saves money too!
If you haven't used the toilet, you can leave the cassette till your next trip. It's not a good idea to tow with a full flush tank, a half full one is OK, you could just fill it up half to start if you are not sure if you will use it. No point in wasting the pink.

But only so it's not too heavy to carry - don't be tempted to empty it every day unless you really need to. The longer the blue has to work on the solids (paper or 'other') the easier emptying is. BTW - I empty our loo as hubby won't entertain the idea (it was an agreement made when we starting camping!) - it's very easy and nowhere near as unpleasant as you think it might be!
we have never used the pink, and tend to leave the flush with about 1-2 litres of water in for use on the move, I usually leave it with a 1/2 dose of chemicals in the bottom, less water (weight) but seems to stop it smelling after it hasnt been used.
My cassette has a measure on the screw cap which I use then add 2 litres using my kettle. I then chuck a good glug of pink in the flush tank followed by another kettle full of water.
I always empty the cassette as again hubby wont do it and I just pump the flush into the cassette to empty that before we travel.
We only use the loo for liquids anyway, but it is very handy for late nights and early mornings!
