Hello...
Just purchased an old but cosy 1988 4 berth Sprite XL Musketeer.

There is an awning, but no instructions! Also appears old (and musty) - it is an NR Acapulco - no idea what size this is or if it actually fits the caravan as the previous owners did not use it. (Tension suckers and steel poles.)

Can anyone help with ideas for a new awning/possible size?

Also, does anybody know if it is possible to add a water heater to allow for hot water. Have tried to research this, but want to avoid huge outlay on such an old model. She has mains hook up.

This site is fantastic - I am completely hooked on reading the discussions - so much wonderfully helpful advice! I am really looking forward to joining the caravanning fraternity and reliving idyllic holidays spent in Anglesey caravanning as a child! My 2 boys will love it - having a tough time convincing the hubbie though!

Welcome to the forum.

The best way to look into the awning problem is actually to put it up. At least then you will know if it fits and if all the poles and other bits are there.

Here's some instructions

As for hubbie, either fill him full of beer, or leave him at home, then enjoy it!!!

Welcome to the wonderful world of caravanning and UKCS,

Someone else asked about adding a hot water cylinder etc recently, and I think the verdict was that it wasn't worth the outlay on an older van.

To be honest, although my van has one I don't often use it - it is a lot quicker just to boil the kettle and we never need more than a bowlful at a time for washing or washing up so it's a bit of a waste of leccy or gas heating a cylinder full, unless we want to use the shower.

Hi Amanda

I am in the same boat as you...just bought a 1999 Lunar clubman on ebay...it is fab am so excited.  We had no instructions for our awning either but common sense and 'how to put up an awning' on google did the trick and in the sun of last weekend we fitted it!  Just got to test out all the other bits, buy a stabilser and we're off...my hubby wasn't keen either but me and the boys have talked him round and he's now looking forward to it too...HOORAY!   Will be interested to hear how Sandy Balls is....we were there in a tent 20 years ago!!

Hi Dawn

Sandy Balls is great - went there last August, but under canvas. We are with 6 other families which is great.
My back doesn't like being too near the ground - hence the caravan. If we get on well, will upgrade in next couple of years! I dream of a 6 berth with fixed bunks and a lovely new(ish) awning!
However, the G&T's will taste just as good in our little oldie!

Amanda
