This sounds obvious but sometimes applying logic is the only way. There is a block in the pipe somewhere. A good way to know where it is, is look at the rest of the van - they all join the outside waste somewhere - if somethings drain away then look at where your sink joins the main waste. Somewhere between there and the externalwaste is the block. Luckily its easy to remove waste pipe from under the van.

we checked logical reasons,we have just tried instead of draining it to rear of van we have just dropped the pipe straight down to side of van and drains fine,it seems it cant cope with a long run to back of van.

Also another propblem with this van is the chopping board stroke draining board is areall poor fit,has any one else had problems with this.

the caravan is a coachman pastiche 535/4

I have a coachman VIP with the same problem.  When I looked under the van, the waste outlet forms a u bend around the chasis.  Unless you re route the pipes nothing will change.  I am going to try to re-route!  The pipes are all push fix, so a little plumbing may solve the problem....fingers crossed.  Otherwise, a cracking van.

We used to have the same problem on our Eldiss and the Lunar before and I am sure there are hundreds of vans out there with exactly the same problem.I think the plumbing on caravans is the last thing the manufacturers worry about.

I just changed all the pipework and fittings on ours and replaced with slightly larger bore plastic pipe with push fittings, made sure the pipe was "falling" and now it positively sucks the water out.The standard flexipipes were full of gunge when I binned them too, definately worth using a cleaner/unblocker of some sort before any period of inactivity, no more congealed fat/soap etc.

Our Coacman is a Pastiche 460/2 with end bathroom.  Although we haven't had problems, I have noticed that the shower tray drain pipe also loops down through the van chassis.   The silly thing about this is that the drain is towards the van side wall.  If they had placed it 180 degrees around, it could have gone directly to the rear without having to dip under the chassis.  As has been said, they don't always give enough thought to these things.

The wash basin is in the far right corner, yet the pipe passes behind fixed internal panelling and access to it would be a major job. If I do have problems in the future, some serious DIY re-routing could be on the horizon.

Bertie.
