Hi all
Thanks for your replies. CandP's suggestion could be why we had the smell of rubber. It's difficult to explain but when reversing because of the road's circle shape the caravan was almost at a right angle to line up with the drive and the car could not move it so OH had to move forward, adjust wheel, reverse again an inch or so then it would come to a stop and have to do it again several times. The van was effectively fighting the car. It would be better economically if it was tyres rather that the clutch.Takes the edge of going away in the van when you know you will have difficulty parking it on return We have to get it to theend of the drive in front of the garage cos we do not want to upset older neighbours who are not keen on the look of vans on the drive
We will probably have to go straight across the middle of the circle and unhitch but it will mean having to push it around and about 10ft to the pavement and then another 13ft up to the garage. Wlould be so much easier if we could just reverse it on. Even with a motor mover it will still be an awkward situation as we would block neighbours from leaving their drives while doing it and always someone wants to go shopping when we are doing something with the van!
Cheers
Carol
