If you have a handy outside access locker, thay's a good place to fit a socket. Make a notch at the bottom of the door to let the cable out.

Our van came with such a socket, but OH also fitted a 12v socket beside it, so we can power the coolbox directly if we wish.

You need to fit an outdoor type socket, comes with a hinged plastic cover.

Yes, ours has a flap on it. Putting it in a locker just saves cutting a hole in the van wall.

We mounted our weather proof socket on the underside of the van and just spurred it from the back of a socket inside, make sure that it runs from the 10amp circuit though and not the 5amp as you may want to run a fan heater from it.

Thanks for all the help. I had thought of fixing a weatherproof socket under the van just as Paul & Wendy suggested to save cutting the outside of the van, so I think thats what I will do
