We've just had a wonderful week away in our new to us van.

After I'd bought it I found a damp patch, hole in the floor, and lots of other bits & pieces that didn't work, or were just plain wrong. To say I was really disappointed would be a bit of an understatement.

Well, I've spent a couple of months resealing, repairing, replacing and renewing stuff and it's all been worth while.

I've still little bits and pieces to do, but what a wonderful van (it's a 1997, Compass connoisseur 490/5). I love it to bits, definately going to keep this one a while. It towed like a dream, kept us warm and dry despite some sharp frosts, high wind and heavy rain. It's got an L shaped lounge with a long side window, and it was lovely to sit and watch the wild birds along the hedgerow of our pitch.

Sorry to ramble, but I'm so absolutely delighted with it, especially after being so disaapointed, I just wanted to share.

I know how you feel, we went away at Easter, forgot the gas bottles, discovered that we had not drained the water system and the filter had cracked, pooring water into my caravan, drove an 80 mile round trip for replacement filter to find that we had bought the wrong one, secured another one and discovered that we had bought the wrong connection for the end (old one being broke by rather frustrated hubby!) and finally fetched new connection and fitted bits together.

We were so annoyed at one point but once all together, kettle on and chilled, we had a lovely weekend.and have just booked another weekend for beginning of May because can't make it to my holiday on 23rd May without seeing my van again!!

Its a real addiction!!!!

yes i know what you mean ours is mid 80s and winds were terrible but we were dry and cosy what a super holiday 66 quid for week and i came back with a tan.
