After 40 fantastic years of caravanning we have decided that it is time to stop, sell the van & move on to different types of holiday.

My problem is that when checking the van over prior to putting it up for sale, I found a small area of damp in the rear corner of the toilet compartment.  Should I have a go at repairing this (with Fix It Club help)  or try to sell it at a reduced price for the new owner to repair?  My wifes view is that if the sale pays for a good set of golf clubs then I should be a happy man.

Glass's Guide;- £1500 Trade. £3,000 Retail

Golf Cubs;-£1150

Starts above the cassette toilet in the corner 2ft from the floor on the side wall down to the floor  in the locker behind the cassette from 3""wide at the top to 9"" nearest the floor.  The rear wall & floor seem to be ok.

If your willing to get stuck in and do the repair then i'd say go for it , but bear in mind that you may uncover a lot more work that needs doing and the repair area could be bigger than you expect , involving removing the toilet etc, also can you get hold of the wall board so the repair looks the same as what you already have .

Either that or put it up for sale but be honest about the damp to any would be buyer .

Thank you for your reply.  I neither could or would sell the van without declaring any known faults, the difficulty is, is it saleable?

Decided to do the repair.  Read up all the information that is available on here.  Removed the cassette toilet, cut out the damaged wall panel, exposing the rotten timber frame behind, removed this & located the cause of the problem which was a small stress crack in the fibre glass moulding near the rear light.   Made this good from behind.   Replaced the frame with new timber using 'No Nails'  Salvaged a  piece of wall panel from behind the cassette toilet, replacing this with a piece of 3mm ply.  This could not be seen when the toilet was back in place.  Cut the salvaged panel to size fitted to the new frame.

Once I had plucked up courage to put the knife in & uncover the problem I enjoyed doing the repair & thank all the people on here who made it possible.

The van was advertised locally & on Ebay.  A pictorial record of the repair was made available to prospective buyers & it did not put anyone off.  Sold successfully.

Thank you to the 'Fix It Club,'

Thank you wizard,

I'll try to to send pictures etc. But I struggle with this modern technology.   I come from an age where a kettle that switched its self off was amazing and a 'pop up' toaster blew the mind.  But will give it a go.
