Hi Guys

Got a bit of a dilemma and would really appreciate a few opinions...

I currently have an Outdoor Revolution Easiporch but would like more room without having to use the full awning. After researching the larger porch awnings I had set my mind on the Kampa Rally 390. The problem I face is that the front of my Abbey slopes down at the front by about 6" and I'm not sure whether it will look odd or even fit at all. After speaking to a couple of dealers and Kampa themselves, nobody seems to be able to give me a definitive answer either way

Although these are relatively new awnings they are the same length as an Ultima 390 so wondered if anybody had tried one of these or a similar awning on a caravan of the same length/shape as mine. The caravan is a 2001 Abbey Alliance (ltd. ed), 5 berth and around 5m long (I've posted a pic in my profile) - basically a very popular shape of van for this era.

I am reluctant to go for the smaller 260 version as this would only give me an additional 30cm and just doesn't seem worth it considering the hassle of selling the old one and forking out the extra cash.

If anybody could offer me advice on this one I would greatly appreciate it!

I have a series 5 bailey pagent which also slopes at the front.& was told that that the ultima type awning must be on the straight section only,I now have the 290

also check the height of your awning rail is within the tolerance given for this type of awning or you will have problems getting it to fit close to your van,I had to cut 3inches of my poles in order to get it to fit

Thanks for the reply 'old chap'

I think you're right, I need to measure the height of the awning rail at the highest point and the lowest and see if they're are within the stated dimensions for the awning (235-250cm)
What makes me think I might get it to work is the fact that the Kampa has adjustable length poles so I can shorten the pole nearest the front of the van.
I'm surprised there still aren't many reviews or reports from owners of the Rally 390, from what I've been told they're selling really well.
I'll measure the van over the w/e and report back my findings, hopefully it might help anyone else in a similar predicament

Hi Andyboy

We've just bought a Rally 390 put it up last week for the first time, we have a twin axle caravan. We were told the same as oldchap that you will need a straight section, They are a little wider than the Sunncamp ours is 260cm went up in about 30 mins.

After taking a few measurements I think the 390's gonna be slightly too long  -  I reckon it would only be a drop of around 6cm but concearned it might make the whole awning look skew whiff

It's a shame all the manufacturers of tunnel awnings seem to stick to set lengths (ie. 260-390). The ideal size in my case would be around 300cm -  I'm sure I wouldn't be alone as my caravan's a pretty popular length. Shame none of them have picked up on this
