We have booked a hardstanding pitch for this summers holiday.
Do you any of you put any type of ground sheet down when you have booked on a hard standing or not? I don't see the point of taking our groundsheet with us if we are not going to use it.
Cheers

We put a ground sheet down to make it more homey , steping out of your caravan on to gravel isn't nice at the best of times , also you can have bare feet in the awning .

I just put a couple of cheap mats down to step onto. That way the teens can leave their mucky trainers outside.

When you say a you put a groundsheet down what is it made from? We have a breathable foam type groundsheet, but I didn't know it it would rip if the ground was stone chipping.

Hi,
We put down a Coleman black plactic groundsheet and then Bolon over the top. There is sometimes a bit of damage where the chairs have dug in but nothing to worry about.

If its a typical Caravan Club style hardstanding we don't bother but then we don't tend to use a full awning but use a Caravanstor canopy.

It's like a plastic weave breathable ground sheet , quite tuff , haven't had any problems with ripping .

always put down the breathable ground sheet because it makes it feel warmer and not uncomfortable to walk on.if you have children they can hurt themselves in a fall in the awning.some of the stones are really sharp.the other thing is you do not need to keep changing to hard shoes each time you go into the awning.
------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.

We used our open weave breathable groundsheet on a caravan club hardstanding and our chairs ripped holes in it. We haven't bothered since. Would like to have a groundsheet down for our main holidays though. I'm thinking of buying a plastic groundsheet to go under the breathable one. Hoping that will provide enough protection to stop it from ripping.

We use a breathable groundsheet, to save our young duaghter from grazed knees. However, we have never had a problem from chairs ripping it. I have tripped over the corners a couple of times though!
