I have a 2 berth caravan we've just been to buy an awning ...one thats easy to put up with few poles the straight bit of the awning rail on the caravan  is 240cm long we've looked at an awning thats 260cm wide we have been told that the poles won;t fit on the sloping sides of the rail but surely 10cms each side won't make a difference?

Any ideas?

Surprisingly it can make quite a difference. I used to use a Panorama XL awning that was designed for caravans with an awning rail height of 235 - 250 cms. The awning rail on my van was only 229 cms from the ground, so 6 cms short. It never fitted properly, used to have trouble getting the edges close to the van, and it arced above the height of the rail so collected rain and gradually leaked all along the join.
