One day to go and its the first time out for us, just doing a couple of days at the local CC site so that we can give the members a good laugh as we attempt the awning for the first time and just about every thing else for the first time, fantastic!!

If it's anything like our first time in September you won't be able to work out which pole is which and end up really confused! We have now colour coded our poles and the diagram that came with them - we can now erect it in about 30 minutes instead of 2 hours (and that's only 3 times we've had it up).
I reckon if you act really dumb and stand there looking totally confused, with a bit of luck those experienced guys on site will soon come over and help you out of the problem, and in no time at all your awning will be up and you will be sitting in it with a beer saying "that was quite easy to put up".
Still I wish you well and hope that the wind and rain stays away when you are putting up.

when we first started caravaning. it took 4 cans of lager to put the awning up, now it only takes 2 !!!
good job youd finished by the fourth or it could have been an awful lot longer lol!!!
on our first trip we were like a fish out of water! we had a french van (door on wrong side) hubby couldn't reverse ( even with a couple of friendly campers helping!) in the end the took 15mins to unhitch & pushed it on to the pitch! The friendly people were a godsend! the wives took me off & opened bottle of wine (great being female!) while the men set about sorting out the awning. Unfortunatley the destructions were in french but turned out one of the men was actually french so read them out. 2 hours later awning was & up i was quite merry! We still had to fathom the water, & remember what switch turned what on! But the other people around us were brilliant & helped so much, i think in general most people want to help & remember their fist time. We now have a new van & are getting to grips with all the different bits, but as yet haven't got a full awning only a spacelite that takes minuets to put up, but in the end we could have the old full awning up in 30mins, team work & laugh & each other makes it much easier. good luck & enjoy!
Theres a saying that if you want to make God laugh tell him your plans for the future and of course we now have to cancel the trial run until next week, thankyou for your replies I shall let you all know how we get on next week oh bol`*!';/*s

We had no clue what to do with our awning - yes, it was new, but the instructions were appalling (it's a Bradcot Classic) - I even looked round the site for a similar awning & asked for help, but they weren't much use either!! Fortunately, 'the slightly older than us' couple behind us came to our escue - we've now colour coded our poles!!! - porch awnings are so much easier.
C&CC & CC members are really helpful though, so am sure someone will help you - have fun, & make sure you've a few chilled beers ready - lubrication always helps !!
------------- Bringing up baby to be a seasoned caravanner - we bought one to holiday cheaply - working well so far - & caravanners are lovely - helped us on our virgin voyage & our awning!!!
