Hi is there anyone out there that can give me some advice. I have recently aquired a rapido export but it has no awning. Original awnings are getting hard to find these days so I was wondering if there's an awning that will fit it. I have read somewhere the a NR awning will fit with some minor modifications to either the awning or the awning rail. If there's anyone out there that can help me out in what to do to make one fit & what size & model awning I would need to make it fit. Unless there is someone out there who has a rapido awning for sale I don't mind what condition as I can get i repaired locally to me then my problems will be sorted.
Hi & welcome to the UKCS. Thanks for the reply but I have now got an awning for it since I first asked about one over 12 months ago now gosh how time flies.
Hi I managed to get an awning for mine & it's purpose made to fit the Rapido. It is made by Raclet & I think the model of it is a Carmague II but I can't be certain of that. An awning for a Confort, Record, Export & their matic variants should all fit each other as they are all the same width. I did modify the awning rails to the rear of the caravan & fitted an 11ft NR awning which worked well but was a bit fiddly to fit, maybe if I had the knack it would've been easier but I only fitted it the once.
Below is the NR I fitted
The Raclet one is much better & easier to fit & larger too. There is a thread on here which does explain how you can fit a standard 12 ft awning although I've never done it myself. You could try contacting Raclet & see if they still make them or look on eBay.
You could also try ringing Campers and Leisure in Ringwood their number is 01202 893 679 and ask for Jason as I've heard they might have one knocking about.
Here's the one I have now it needs a couple of minor repairs but it's very usable as it is.
