ok , excuse the novice caravanner silly questions.
we currently have a lunar clubman , and are hoping to upgrade this wekend to a avondale argent ( big one) twin axle.
theres no way we can manually move our current van when needed , so i know we wont be able to manhandle the new one, the question is how good are the caravan movers ive seen advertised, can you fit them yourselves, and which is the best type?
We have a PowrTouch mover on our (single axle) caravan (they do a model for twin axle vans too) - it's great! I can move the 'van single-handed in or out of any space, no matter now tight. It will spin the 'van on it's length, and is a doddle to control. We had it fitted by PowrTouch as it then has a 5-year warranty, and it was worth every penny.

Second everything Scampi says - we also have the singel axle Powrtouch and, although it wasn't cheap, it's been worth every penny. Getting the 'van out of storage, onto the car, onto a pitch and back again is now completely stress and pain free.
We'll certainly be transferring it when we get round to changing van - we wouldn't now be without it.
Oh, yes, and it's still great fun watching people's faces as they see a van moving on its own!!!!

Not sure which one we are getting fitted on our new van but we had a play with the display mover and it really was good. Where we store our 'van there are huge crators in the ground so we wanted to check that it would go over them. The dealer encouraged my husband to drive it over the raised decking nearby to prove how good it was. Obviously this was just the axle but it did it with ease lol
Where we store our 'van is at the back of our house and there are 2 very tight corners to get around and at the moment we have to unhitch our van and push it over the craters to site it and then push and pull to get it into place. Luckily we can get momentum from a flat piece of ground to get it to go over the craters but with a motor mover it will all be done with minimum effort.
what about the hitch type ones , are they any good ? ive noticed they seem to be a lot cheaper , and wondered if one would do while we save up for the other type ( just totally overblown the budget on the new van lol)
Powrtouch on a single axle. Oh the joys of getting one, no more backwards and forwards and swearing off hubby ( aimed at me i think ) He can now go down to storage site and pick van up on his own.
All the movers seem equally good, so shop around for price. Enduro are normally cheapest, I've got one, but I,m not sure if they do a twin axle one yet.
We have just bought a twin axle.I have a lot of time on my hands having just had a knee op so have looked into this in great depth.I've spoken to all the movers dealers/fitters and the one that came ot tops for us was the Ryhno.Good price, weight was one of the problems,it's the lightest. All british made.LIFE TIME gurentee. And if you speak to Simon he can tell you in so much detail about it.
It is a two motor, electronic engaging motor mover. Only being two motors, the Mover TE is nearly 50% lighter than comparable alternatives, normally abit more cost effective and means you wont have to move/ or lose your jacking points and spare wheel carrier. The link above will give further information and also have a link to our online demonstration DVD.
If you have any further questions about the Mover TE or any other of our products please either email sales at trumauk.com, call 01283 586050 (open again Tuesday 8.30am) or visit www.trumauk.com.
I hope that this has helped and good luck with your search!
Kind Regards,

We recently did a mini survey on movers, they all came out well, except one was let down by after sales service. Search back about 6 weeks if you want the details
