Having started camping about 5 years ago with a 1990 Pennine Pullman folding camper to see if we would like it and then moving over to a 1998 Conway Mirage trailer tent and then moving up to a 2003 Pennine Pathfinder folding camper which was our pride and joy we have now sold that and got a 2002 Coachman Amara 500/5 Caravan.
I was always quite reluctant to go all the way so to speak especially once we got the Pennine Pathfinder with all the luxurys that had but last year got me thinking into getting a caravan, and now we have!
Been away for one weekend so far which was great with so much more space and no more unfolding of main camper etc. Have done loads of little small jobs on it to like extra 12v sockets, replaced cooker lid, new carpet, new LED lights, cleaned the whole awning and reproofed and its now like new again. Also bought a new porch awning from Towsure, loads of little gadgets the list goes on and so does my bank balance!
Regards
A sad ex-folding camper owner and a new happy caravan owner
We did the same 3 years ago, still miss the Cruiser for some reason! The extra space, shower, loo and oven in the caravan make it well worth the change over for us.
Happy tin tenting!

We have done the same thing going from a 1999 Conway clubman hardtop folding camper to a 2003 hobby 540 uk, only last week.
The camper had all the caravan luxuries, but taking down in the rain and putting it up when we got home to dry wasnt funny. We havent been out in our lovely new hobby yet but hope to go next week.
Before that we had a tent. I've had loads of buying advice on these forums in the past and now hope to be a regular now we have settled on the caravan.
We started off with a tt but soon got a 'van and even though i could quite happily spend a few hours wandering around tent, folders tt's on display i would never go back to owning one. There's just nothing like pulling up in the rain and putting the steadies down and going inside with a hot cup and knowing that it could rain all day long and not bother us lol.
It seems there are a few of us ex-folding campers who have made the move! I still think they are great and would have one again if my situations changed for storage etc, however as some of you have already said it nice to be able to arrive on site and be ready in a few minutes adn also not have to worry about the waether when packing up.
Looking forward to summer holiday in France this August and also many weekends away whatever the weather.
