Heard a preview of tomorrows show on Talksport Radio 1089 AM. The two presenters as part of their 10am morning show intend to put their case for banning caravans as they are the cause of all evil.
Did not hear the whole plug for the show but basically said that caravans should be banned from the road. Apparently we will be the reason for gridlocked roads over the forthcoming bank holiday period.
So we won't be an asset to the economy in our chosen holiday areas then? We won't be supporting local pubs and restaurants, supermarkets and butchers for our bbq food or buying the kids ice creams from the local parlour?
Ignore 'em Mark, we know we are helping the country through the recession eh!

It may not be worth discussion as far you are concerned between fellow caravanners,I would agree. However this blinkered negative media bias which is listened to by the non caravaning fraternity does not help our cause.
The public do not need any further poisoning of the mind. The image of caravaning needs a more balanced representation in the media and if any of us can help adjust the situation it has to benefit us all.
Are they going to mention the fact that some 50000+ new caravaners are starting this year? guess not because that would blow the wind out of their sales.
I do not think that caravans blocking up roads and causing a total grid lock of the uk is a major priorty at the mo, did not here of any caravans problems at easter bank hols?
I may still be relitively new to caravaning buteven I wouldn't let that bother me. Even before I bought my first caravan a year ago I never thought bad of them on the roads. I would have to say that the majority of caravaners are better drivers than your avarage driver.
I bet they would love it if they partook in it!! LOL. I hav caravanned since I was 24 and I still think Im 18 (LMAO) its a young persons hobby and the majority of us are very careful drivers. Its the nutter truckers that cause a lot of problems. I have my heart in my mouth with some of their antics on the motorway!!
------------- Jan:Braids Gretna, Feb Stanwix Park Silloth & Braids Gretna,

------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
I wouldn't take any notice of the two donkeys who present the 10am til 1pm slot at the moment. They haven't a clue what they're doing. They have to bad mouth someone to fill the air time. Jon Gaunt used to present that slot & the station must have lost listeners since he left & these two took over, I certainly don't listen to them any more.
They should come & stay in a caravan or a tent for a few days, they'd learn how real people enjoy their free time.
I don't care what they say. At least we don't have to put up with being herded in & out of airports, on & off transfer buses & being just another nameless family in some foreign hotel! I know what I'd rather be doing. Just wish we could join the throngs of road-blocking problem causers this weekend (OH working so stuck at home feeling resentful!)
When I'm sat outside my caravan drinking a bottle of wine in some evening sunshine next week, I'll give them a thought as they struggle home through the traffic, get home late, and their dinner is in the dog
