We seemd to have encountered a bit of a problem with our Portico + and not sure if it's just bad design or bad workmanship by us!

This is only the second time we've put the awning up and we've had the same problem both times. The poles that rest against the pads don't seem to want to! They seem to want to go out at a forward angle at the bottom.Leaving a gap against the van.

The angle of the rear poles is sort of controlled by the funny cross beam as this is a fixed angle. (this is very difficult to describe!) I suggested to hubby that it was because the front corner down pole was too high and this made the angle of the conecting poles all wrong- but be said if he makes front down pole shorter none of the pads sit against the van they just float in the air and if the wind blows they will bang against the van. To be honest the way the pads fit on the awning seems weird to me and they really don't want to sit square against van at all.

We did think about looking at one in a shop but they always have them up against a special frame and not a real van so that doesn't help at all. Any advice would be welcome. Mandy

You are not alone! We used to have a portico + and had the very same problem. The blessed thing used to take as much putting up as the full awning so I sold it. I did once get a piece of rope (always carry a tow rope) and tied the poles back against the van by passing the rope under the van and tying to the chassis on the other side. Probably completly the wrong thing to do but it worked, just wasn't very practical lying underneath tying knots.

Sorry I can't help with the correct way of putting it up.
