Ive been looking around to replace our van for a couple of reasons, main one being it isnt big enough for us any more, second is its 21 years old, and has got a big touch of damp.
there seems to be a lack of vans in the sub £1K catagory, and a chat with guys at albion caravans near me they are saying the same, is everyone holding on to their old vans, or is the demand for cheap vans pushing the price up.
when we started looking last year, there was quite a choice of 5 berth vans, now seemingly dried up.
Ill keep on hunting!

Hiya,
Here's where we got our van from & he has a couple of 4 berths at £995. They're both 20+ years old but say they're in good condition.

Good luck with you hunting!

Topgear only destroyed two IIRC. One Sprite and an Elddis Shamal GT, both got burnt. Brainiac have got through a few though.

deffo more than that,
Elddiss was the one they "Used"
they destoyed one doing the caravan speed record, they used one as a target for the "car cannon" also destroyed one on the RC full size cars, the "reverse distance jump as over caravans IIRC, caravan conkers, and didnt they wreck one with the indestructable toyota pickup.
Damn i watch it too much.
as for braniac, i dread to think

Lots on Ebay last time I looked. Try going to your dealer & asking what he does with the older vans. I believe there's auction centres selling caravans now so perhaps that's where the traders go. Have a word with the salesman, he might tell you more than one of the bosses at big dealerships. He might even be able to find you a van.

Tim - get the Wharfedale! There's nearly always a few vans advertised in there, and a few weeks ago a 5 berth was advertised complete with full kit. We were looking out for a new van late last season, and saw a Bailey Indiana advertised in the Wharfedale, at a really good price. We went to see it - but decided it was marginally too heavy for our existing car. We're still kicking outselves because we should have bought it, and changed cars!
I'll keep a look out on supermarket notice boards, too - always a good source of caravan-related adverts! Do you store at Coney Park? There are a couple of 'For Sale' notices on the vans up there. I'm going up there this morning, stocking the van to take away shortly, and I'll have a look around and see what's on offer.

Hi Val,
we will be starting to get the wharfedale, and the T&A to look,
Thanks, I dont store at Coney, Im lucky enough to have space outside my house, my dad does have his workshop up there though, so access isnt a problem (with those new gates etc.
if you could have a nosey that would be greatly appreciated, we dont often go around the "other side" as its now all closed off from the work units so means a special trip round those "Roads" using the term loosly.
my serious van hunting has begun...

Tim, had a look around today - and nothing at all that's likely to be in your price bracket I'm afraid.
Have you had a look on this Forum's For Sale section, or on Practical Caravan and Caravan Finder?

hi we got our Swift Rapide 4 berth with awning and extras last week off ebay for 850 it is fantastic really clean dry and dent free, we only had to travel 70 miles to get it but was well worth it, another identical one went the next day for only 600 what a bargin, try putting in a 50 mile radius and a limit on what you will spend and it makes trawling through alot easier
good luck in finding one
