We have just had our 1st weekend away without EHU in our new van.it was really good and we enjoyed it.We had a couple of problems. One being that the battery drained very quickly.Gazbag put it down to the water pump, and the on board tank. The pump was on continually, and we didn't know weather to use internal or external pump.Any help please.

if it is a pressurized system and is set correctly you may have a leak somewhere.if you have a leak the pressure cannot build up and shut off the pump.is it a whale system?

Not sure if it's a whale,it's a sterling elite 2002.Has just been serviced so don't think there is a leak.Have had a look at past posts and noticed a lot about the pressure.Could this be it?

If its a pressurized system it will have a pressure switch that needs setting up. But the pressure switch could be setup ok when the battery is fully charged. but as the power drops in the battery. So does the pump pressure so it dos not have the pressure to turn the pressure switch off.

We've had that problem a couple of times - there's a little screw thing on the pump which you just have to adjust slightly. The pump should only run for a couple of seconds after you turn the tap off. The handbook should tell you what to do.

We had a problem with our pump not turning off. After messing around with pressure adjustment without success for about half an hour I checked the pump itself.
I discovered the problem was caused by a small amount of debris stuck in the valve where the water pump plugs into the caravan. This allowed water to backflow into the aquaroll preventing the water tank to reach the correct pressure. I removed the debris and it worked perfectly.

I'll do it tomorrow

I have the same problem, but only when using the caravans battery power, as opposed to EHU.  I put it down to the battery not supplying sufficient power to activate the pressure switch, even though it was fully charged.  Mine is a drop-in Whale pump.  Lilyjoy- Please post the result of your conversation with Truma as I'm sure we're all interested!

That is most likely the problem, if the battery voltage drops it messes up the pressure switch activation I had exactlly the same on my last van unbenown to me I had caught the switch on the charging unit and my battery voltage had dropped, switched charger back on and all ok.
