Why do you need to do either? We don't have that make of Porch awning, but just feed ours in as normal through the opening at the side, and pull it across until it is at the right position. We didn't have to cut anything or make any additional openings in the awning rail.

We feed our awning in at the front, but also have an opening in the awning rail at the back. Our van is 'back to front' (continental side door) so our porch awning fits like a normal awning at the front end of the van so we feed in from the front, but if yours fits at the back then can't you just feed it in through the back opening? Sorry if I'm misunderstanding the problem.
Hi Sue, I think you mean to fit a small awning to make it look like a porch awning.......I would snip your awning trim at the correct height from the ground. Don't try to open the awning rail fitted to the van.

I have been reading your original post over & over again trying to get the jist of it. You have been very vague in what your trying to accomplish. I have tryed searching (eurovent veranda combi porch) & come up with nothing that gives me any idea on what your on about.
please give more info to help us help you.
hi we have a proper eurovent verandah combi porch but it is about 5 years old now and it fits like a awning goes down at the back on the caravan the year after model can fit in middle of van
what i was asking would you open the awning channel or cut the bead on the awning
we used it on the thee other van and opened thee awning rail but we cant decide what to do this time
I think I understand. The awning has a beading that is designed to fit to the back end of the caravan and along the roof in a sort of L shape, but your caravan door is not at the back so you don't want the "down" bit in the awning channel as you need to slide it further forward?
I would put a nick in the awning beading rather than opening up the awning rail.

hi . We have an isabella for a smaller van than ours, so we measured the length of the awning with a piece of string, ran the string from ground at back of van along awning rail until the other end reached the ground hanging down from rail, then cut the beading at that point and using straight pole from ground , with a clamp fitting on end to clamp onto roof pole, slight excess of awning on side but easily taken up when pegging down.
I had an Isabella Combi porch for many years and the instructions said to measure the height of the van at the point where the front of the porch would hang down and to measure the same distance along the awning tape from what would be the front of the awning and to cut the bead that is in the awning tape at that point. I bought it secondhand in 1994 and wanted a longer front section so made a second cut and the porch is still in use regulary by friends of mine who took it off us when we wanted to replace it in 2004.

For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013
