We have a 28 litre oven with 2 electric hobs that we set up in the awning. It only cost us £29 refurbished on eBay and is great. The oven is 1100w and the hot plates are 800w and 1000w. We have used both the oven and 1 hot plate at the same time on a 16amp hook up.
I think Halogen ovens are way too big for a caravan. Why bother when there is a perfectly good oven. If I had no oven then I would use my double skillet. I use my halogen oven at home but am still getting used to it. I find cooking from frozen is not satisfactory but maybe its me doing it wrong.

Hello, just joined this website. Can anyone give advice on using the mini Remoska in a caravan, I purchased my at Lakeland a few years ago with a view to taking it to France, but bit wary of using as don't want to blow the fuse! many thanks
You shouldn't blow a fuse with the mini remoska. The standard one uses 470w so I imagine the mini is much less.
You can use the remoska for anything you'd use a halogen oven for. They are fabulous bits of kit. However if you want to sell it....
Just for the record these halogen ovens are a fantastic piece of kit and we would not be without ours. We use it morning noon and night! You will not be disappointed.
DITTO, Fantastic piece of kit that uses very little electric.
For great easy recipes that look and taste good, try Amazon for Sarah Flowers Halogen cookbooks.Available as ebooks as well. Even I am impressed with my efforts

I have to say I do have an oven in the van in fact my halogen oven lives in it, I wouldn't be without mine when we were away at Christmas I did a turkey crown with roast veg and it was delicious. Normally you have a 10% less cooking time and temperature and it saves on gas.
hi there
best place to buy one is iceland they are about £25.00p
we use one in our van and also at home because the preheating on a normal cooker is not needed on a halogen oven because they start up and are ready immediatly to cook anything you want the same as a normal oven and if you use an electric oven at home it will use half of the power and save time on cookings as well and the big plus is you can set it so it cleans its self
regards george

Hi George, did you notice that you were responding to a post that was at least 8 years old?
I bought a halogen oven because my mother and my cousin both thought they were wonderful. I hated it. It was noisy and the light from it was horrendous. Plus it was huge and took up so much space.
We used a halogen oven in our first caravan as we didn’t trust the gas hob - it was an old elddis and the electrics were sound just the gas was needing overhauled sonjust never used it no bottles to carry either so bonus.
Any I digress the halogen oven was perfect for our needs cooked roasts and everything in it.
Would probably still have it if some eejit hadn’t dropped and smashed the glass bowl

Thank you!! I know some of these posts about a halogen oven are some years old, but I am actually just thinking about our caravan holiday, in these strange times, and considering whether to buy a halogen oven as possibly won’t feel comfortable (at the moment, anyway,) eating out like we usually do when we go away. Thank you George for posting in June (sorry if I’ve got your name incorrect, i can’t see the post at present) although I know George has been posting. Anyway many thanks once again, will take all points given on board and make a decision soon. Happy Safe Camping everyone.

Pity you aren’t nearer fife bloke,we have a spare bowl you could have.(Fits the JMLone)
Aww thanks path that’s lovely of you to offer. I tried to get a replacement bowl but no joy so sent the rest of it to the recycling centre few months after the bowl smashed. And by that time we had changed caravans and the abbey had a perfectly functional cooler so didn’t bother buying a replacement
