Not all at easy to unscrew the thermocouple to say the least, the zinc in the brass screw has reacted with the aluminium and seized it solid, this applies to all carver fires after 1993 where the gas valve is outside below the floor.
You can get new thermocouples but not the aluminium cap, heating the cap only serves to soften the aluminium further and it's threads will be ruined rather than the much harder brass.
So seeing as you appear to have got it out, what else has gone wrong?
Edit, the title says 3000, this is brass to brass so should not be a problem? or is it a 3000S perhaps?
