Is there any web sites that can give a list price for a 2004 Ace Jubilee Viceroy, can only see the Glass site and you have to register and pay a fee, I just want to check that the deal we have been offered today is correct.

Im not sure that glass guide or any other gives you a correct price on your van, one way to find out what the glass price is (and this is what the dealers use) is to phone an insurance broker up and ask them what the market value is on you van should you wish to insure it, they use glass guide and should be able to tell you, dont be shocked if its less than the deal that you were offered, ours is around £700 less than you can buy on a private sale, and around £1000 less than a dealer.

We have been offered 6590.00 on a trade in against a 14,000 van. The list price says 6000 and the dealer is coming to see the van tomorrow to confirm the price. I said the van was 5 yrs old and I am now concerned that he thought it was 2005 not a 2004, anyway tomorrow will tell, have spent the evening washing, polishing and fixing all those little things that I should have done last year. I wont be there when the dealer comes round so I shall await his call in the afternoon.

Interesting site - here's a couple of quotes from the author - the first one about how he buys caravans for resale:

" I can only pay trade prices or a little more sometimes, or a little less if damaged, but I can collect straight away and of course I pay  cash on collection and I am a very nice man!"

Fair enough, I suppose - especially if he's a 'nice man'

The second quote is about his reaction when viewing a caravan that turned out to be damp (and if he *really* expected a 1993 van *not* to be damp, then he's clearly in the wrong business)

" On inspection with my damp meter every single part of the Coachman had damp in the wood frame all to red alert on the damp meter. without a damp meter I would not have known the extent, guess where I saw it advertised, yes Ebay . I really should know better, though I told him the caravan was dangerous and should be scrapped just to annoy him"

Do 'nice men' tell lies just to 'annoy' people?...............

According to that site the forecourt value of mine is £2,900, the private value is £2,200. I've just renewed my insurance and they told me the value (presumably from Glass's Guide) is £2,600.

I should think if you take an average between the two prices quoted on that site, you'd be about right.

If you've said it's 5 years old, why should he think it's a 2005? It's only 2009 now.

Nora
