Hi, When collecting a new caravan just how picky should I be, my last van, 5 yrs ago, the loo door fell off on the way home and the dealer repaired the resultant scratches with polish. Should I be checking every screw and catch in detail or not. I have noticed that the loose fit carpets are all curled up at the edges, not sure if they will flatten down or end up driving me mad, should I reject them before I accept the van or not. I have also noted a small gap at the bottom of the loo door, if used as a shower this may leak, I dont intend to use the shower but should I get it sorted aswell. I can see me going to collect the van and ending up giving them a list of jobs to do and leaving without the van, is this the way to do it or take it away and then arrange to bring it back to get the snagging done.
We picked up and left a snagging list when we got back from first trip. Nothing major and all easily fixable but wish they would do it quicker !!! Easy for us to do as we have storage at the place we bought our van. I might have done it the other way around if it wasn't going to be on the dealers site after taking it away.

You should inspect carefully inside & out for damage etc in the presence of the salesman & get him to write down anything you are not happy with & get a copy. That way, no misunderstandings.
Think doing it with the salesman is a good idea , thanks.
I always admire the people on here that can barter and get lots of stuff with their new van, I have agreed a price for my van but that was before i said that it had a mover on it, so I am going to go back and ask for more, I also am going to ask for the 13 pin adaptor and a combi kit for our awning as its too small for the new van but cant get it altered as its more than a metre. No point in asking for more as I have everything else. I am a bit of a chicken so wish me courage.

When I bought my new van last year, I got £1000 off the price, the mover transferred from my old van free of charge and about £1000 of extras (awning etc) It pays to try - as my grandmother used to say "if you dont ask, the answers no already"
