Hi i am considering renting our 6 berth abbey aventura 340 out to strangers, what insurance would i need ?

I am thinking of putting it on certain sites picked by the hirer but within 15 miles of where i live so i can check out the van after each letting and then charge for any damage, the customer could choose whether to go for a family site eg Haven or a more quite setting,

what do you think and are there sites where i can advertise ?

feedback would be good cheers

Hi, we are not caravan owners and want to try before we buy to see if it is for us. We have not got a tow bar so a caravan on site would be of interest to us.

As far as your other questions go re insurance etc - I cant help, but someone said there are sites out there that do hire out caravans so check out their sites.

So there are customers out there - us one of them.

Don't forget that many people are a bit clumsy when it comes to the lightweight caravan fittings and don't have a clue when it comes to topping up the loo etc.

My parents had a van on a seasonal pitch and rented it out, but we did live in a pretty village in west scotland. They were very careful where they advertised.

Cheers for the feedback,

i think i would have to be there on arrival to demonstrate how things work etc and to hand over keys and passes and basically to say that it is our personnel caravan and to treat it with respect,

the next problem is price? what to charge, does it include two bottles of gas or just one things like that, how much deposit to charge ?

keep the feedback coming

much appreciated

I would suggest that you collect a hefty damage deposit. People are notoriously careless with rented things. Also dont let to young, single sex groups or your caravan will end up trashed

Hi,

A good idea and a very good way for people to experience caravanning before taking the plunge themselves.

One point that you may or may not be aware of is that any touring caravan or motor-home that is hired out must by law be inspected by a Corgi Registered Gas Engineer before EVERY rental commences.

This website might be of interest to you: Tilshead Caravan Hire

Good Luck with your venture
