i we recently purchased a 2nd hand bailey ranger 2007 model, however, some of the carpet has markings on it, the kind that look like it has had binding tape round it when rolled up and the residue has stayed on it,

i have tried all sorts to get it up, i have washed it clean and it comes off briefly but it must be a sticky residue cos as soon as we start using it again (walking in and out etc) the lines appear.

any ideas?

or is there anywhere that does new carpet and what prices am i looking at for it

Hi try some white spirit but wear gloves as its not good for your skin.

Hiya darby1963,  before we bought our new avondale we had an older avondale that had fitted carpets that my mrs was'nt keen on so we looked into having new ones made. 

 I made a template of the carpet and went to a local carpet shop, we chose a carpet remnant we liked and got the price then asked how much it was to have the edge bound/whipped to stop fraying and was told it was £1 per foot..

 if there were no fancy cut outs they would do it but if there were they would have to send it away and it would take about 10 days.

I'm sure there are cheaper places around you just have to find them, it would have cost us in the region of £90 for new drop ins to fit our Avondale golden Mayfair but in the end we bought a new van.... a bit extreme i know but it was'nt down to the carpets lol anyway good luck . Bill 

hi see,we have the 500/5 and love it.also try sticky stuff remover it works really well.

Cleaning caravan carpet

quicker to change it possibly,easy to do.go to a carpet warehouse and buy a roll end 16 foot long cost from £10 - £50.cut out old one and lay over the new one to get the form or pattern,cut oversize by a half inch and then refit using a very sharp knife,new is best.if you are not up to fitting it they have carpet fitters on there books.a runner can cost £40 plus.fix down using half inch screws and cups made from brass,10 inches apart down both sides.
