Difficult especially if its a cold wind (like today) and your hands freeze while trying to hold onto it!!  We didn't put our awning up until the next day after arriving at North Ledaig CC site last month due to the bitter cold, very strong wind. Glad we waited, next day was still breezy but dry and sunny. Hands still felt cold by the end though!

Does your awning have zip up panels?  Or can you roll up the panels?  We had an awning that only rolled up but we found it a lot easier if the sides and front were rolled up when putting up the awning with sides and front down was really hard as even a slight breeze makes the awning really hard to put up.

I know it means having to zip in the panels afterwards but its still easier than the wind pushing the awning into you and pushing you over lol.

We've had 2 very wet weekends on our last 2 trips and have vowed to only go on hardstanding from now on, because all the mud just gets us down.

hth

hiya,     we were at Buxton 3 weeks ago, just me and the mrs with our 4 year old neice.   when we started to put the awning up the weather was fine, as soon as we had the poles up and roof on Bang ... the wind howled and it persistantly rained hard . Our neice grabbed the centre pole but looked a bit like dorothy in the wizard of oz so i grabbed her and put her in the van, my Mrs was hold of one end and me the other (the awning not our neice)we were both absolutly bloody soaking but couldnt let go in case the poles hit the van, after 20 minutes or so the wind dropped and the rain eased and we cracked on with it ,so considering it was the first time we had used the awning we got it put up and pegged down in about 1 3/4 hours, not bad for an old fart and his OH oh yeah and not forgetting Grace shouting come on uncle bill its starting to rain again. Been away this week to Mablethorpe and guess what we did'nt try to put the awning up but we did see a few others fail miserably ..we had nice weather the last couple of days but not worth putting it up for that.. ah well theres always next time. take care Bill
