Hi

We are being messed about a bit by the dealer that has the van we like with the dealer extras (special edition), we can get the similar van elsewhere but without the extras, my question being can we have these things fitted by the dealer with the basic van and has anyone done this and is it worth any costs involved:

Alarm

External bbq point

Wet locker

Don’t want to sound like a numpty at this point and ask the dealer in case he think we are cracked and its not poss!

Thanks

Some dealers will do this for you at extra cost, We had added to our swift when we bought it

Gas point

240 Point,

Little light that shines into front locker from by jockey wheel thingy

and a microwave,

Can't see why anyone would decline if you are willing to pay.

Hope this helps

P.S. Got ours from Stewart Longton In Blackpool if that helps,

Sorry to hear of your problems with (I'm guessing) K.P. Have you looked at the Sterling range at Duncans of Wishaw, exact same spec. different worktops and soft furnishings but otherwise same van. Hope this helps, we too were thinking of the dealer special as theres hardly any difference in price. Duncan's furnishings are quite dark though and the caravans are inside which doesn't help.

good luck in your search.

BBQ point should not be a problem, get one fitted by any dealer or service engineer. don't think alarm would be difficult either. not sure about wet locker.

well we went to KP and walked back out after hearing the changeover price was 600 more for Swift than D of Wishaw for Sterling, both the same van with the same extras almost! There was no movement with them.

however we have seen a van without the extras in Ayrshire area and they are 700.00 cheaper to change than the Sterling but without the extras, hence wondering what it would be to add the extras that hubby is steering towards (he tends to forget the price difference sometimes!)

I also felt the Sterling special a little dark inside and we are heading back at the weekend to see the interior on a van outside in the daylight.....

Adding the bbq point is not difficult for a dealer.

We negotiated at the time of purchase of the caravan for a dealer to fit and paid £25 for the parts.

I know someone who is having one fitted now at a dealer where it is going to cost just over £100.

Don't know if this helps but we wanted an outside plug and the dealer is fitting it for us all included in the price.  We had to wait before ordering so had a good look round all the dealers and when it came to ordering we went to our local dealer, told him what the other dealers were offering and he matched them and threw in the outside plug for free.

So my advice to you is not to rush into buying until you see what the other dealers are offering and then go back to your local dealer and see whether he will do all what you want.

Jeannie

Hi

thanks for that, the problem is the van we have seen with the extras is with a dealer who will not budge on his price as he knows his has more than the standard model.

We can get the basic van at a better price but they have said that they have given us their 'cost' price almost and can do no more (don't believe them but they are dealers!).

I would like to walk away from it all but hubby on the other hand cannot.

Don't know if they still do it, but Practical Caravan magazine used to do a fairly regular feature about which dealers do Dealer Specials.

If someone here reads it reguarly they may be able to help you find out which other dealer will do the same special as the one you've seen.

When we bought a dealer special a few years ago there were several dealers that effectively sold the same van with the same extras, so we shopped around to find the best price and upholstry we liked.

Thanks for that, I will ask my Dad to check his as he has a subscription to that magazine.

Problem is did not want to buy too far from home as we don't want to have a long way to travel from any warranty issues.

Hi,

Don;t mind at all, we payed nothing, we negotiated it into the deal along with everything else, upgraded the upholstry and new battery, we walked away once then came back and re negotiated, it was at a show though.

Although at the moment you should be able to haggle with the dealers for it.
