Does anyone travel the A43 from junction 15A on the M1 to junction 10 on the M40, the route planners are telling me to take this road when we travel south to the New Forest in July.
Your in County Durham right? I live in Leicester and depending on which route finder you use some suggest I go 15A to M40 and some suggest I go M69, A46,M40 to junction 10 and then A 43. With the van on I would always go the latter and if you are coming down the M6 I would then go M42 to M40 and so on. If you go the 15a to A34 there are lots of roundabouts.
If the M1 is your nearest route I would come down that, get off a junction 21 and take the M69, A46 and joint the M40 then.

Thanks Eddie, the M1 is my nearest route and the M69/A46 looks good, I won't be rushing to get there as I've booked an overnighter at Bladon Chains which is only a few miles from the A34.
As a ex HGV driver I used to use that route weekly, and it is all dual carriageway with plenty of laybys, and there is only a few miles difference which ever route you use, depending upon the time of day you plan to travel I would choose that route over the A42/M42/M40 if I was travelling rush hour either AM or PM, the only exception is if the grand prix is on at Silverstone then keep as far away as possible.

We know all these routes very well. I would go A43 as fewer junctions and more straight forward, just asked OH who does the towing and he agreed (must be a first!) as long as you avoid peak peroids and as royh says don't go anywhere near if its grand prix weekend. Apparently there are currently road works on the A46/M40 junction as well but OH doesn't know how long for, I think there is a website where you can check if you are going that way.
