hi

is there anyone out there going to the caravan club national rally next week?

we are going to York to try out a CL as we have only joined last month

Hi there,

We're going - I have just bought my OWN first van - went to the National with my parents around about 1985 and had a great time - you'll have a good time !.

We went to our first National Rally in Norfolk last year and said - we'd never do it again.

If you like being surrounded by hundreds of caravans and your only view from every window - is another caravan - then fine.  But we found it too big, too impersonal, no privacy, wall to wall caravans - and just like living in a huge regimented carpark. 

We thought we'd give the 'rally experience' a try but found it's not for us.  Not that we're anti-social by any means - just don't like being surrounded by masses of caravans in a big, open, uninteresting field.

We looked at the national we have always wanted to try it, but we thought it a bit expensive especially as we couldn't find out what if any of the entertainment was included, and when we saw the cost of the evening entertainment together with it being limited availability, we decide it mightn’t be for us - unless anyone can tell us different?

Yes, we went last year and had a great time even the children enjoyed it.  We all enjoyed entering the competitions which we are getting for now.

I am sure we will all have a good time hope weather gets better!

Tried a local rally once ( only because it was at Stratford-on -Avon and we fancied going there!).

 Not for us far too organised commitees, flag up etc!, I was in the RAF at the time so probably needed something less organised!

The thought of all those caravans converging on one place does not appeal, we get enough stick as it is from non caravanners!! Mega traffic jam ???

As Jackie and Steve said being surrounded by 1000's of vans is not for us!

We caravan becuase it gives us the freedom to travel independently, so a rally IMHO smacks of a package holiday!

We went last year and loved it, we are getting all the competition bits ready at the moment and are on field E3.
