We are expecting our first baby in September and currently have a 2 berth caravan, we have been looking about and have seen a nice dealers special edition of the Sterling Europa, however they are messing us about with a deal and trade in prices and they now want 100.00 more from us than prev stated.....I would like to never deal with them again but they are the only ones who have this caravan. They will knock 700.00 off the price if we have no trade in but prob would only give us 4 weeks to sell ours so not much time.....

As we don't need to change right now ( as once baby is born in Sept we won't be back out again until Easter 2010) should we wait until the next caravan show in Feb 2010 and see what we can get there or will the deals be worse as they are trying to tell us caravanning is getting more popular, will our trade in have dropped a good bit with a new year passing? etc.

Has anyone gone back to a crap dealer simply because they want the van but cannot stand the salesman?

Are you wanting to buy new?  We've been thinking of getting a new 'van for a year now and when we were at our local dealers just before sept last year he told me that the list price on new was £1000 more as from 1st Sept. 

Keep looking around all the dealers that you can get to and see what deals each dealer is offering and then when you are ready to buy ask your local dealer if he will match it.  Your local dealer is best as it will need servicing every year and you don't want to have to drive miles just for a service or repair.

I've never been to the shows so can't comment on them.

Another thing to consider is that with this recession and the weak euro lots of people are going to be looking into having holidays in this country which has already had an impact on the price of tents and used 'vans.  I'm not sure if that means that people who have camped this year will get to September/October and then want a 'van to carry on camping...
