We're off camping this weekend and as the forcast is terrible we decided to invest in a small gas heater for our montanna 6. We decided to go for the sunncamp 2kw double burner as it fits on the big gas bottle we use for the cooker which would make it quite stable. As we have children we only plan to use it for short periods to warm the tent up before bed. It would not be left unnattended! I was wandering about the fumes from the gas, will we need to have a window open for ventilation? This would seem to defeat the object of having a heater in the first place.
Would be great to hear from any of you lovely people who have this sort of set up or have used this heater in a tent. Reckon it should be safe but will sleep better if I had some advice.
Hi Chipper, you seem to have gone off track and posted in caravans but no matter!
You will get condensation with a gas heater in a tent, yes you need ventilation otherwise the 'walls' will probably be dripping on you. As you say don't leave it unattended, and not on overnight, if you have electric hook up (EHU) a small fan heater is a good way to go.
Happy camping!

Fan heater is defo the way to go, when we did camping we had a large 8 man tent and it heated it up a bit too warm it was really cosy we sat in ther in t.shirts, even tho the gas one was stable i wouldnt be happy leaving it on.
definatly get electric hook up you can get the cable with about 3-4 sockets on from argos and the fan heater from argos too, we got one that turn round.
I have the 2kw double burner gas heater too and use it in a tent. I don't leave the doors or windows open, like you say, defeats the object, but the tents have vents, especially the Weathermaster, that's got loads. Use it in the awning with the campervan too, again, well ventilated. Never leave it on over night though or when we go out.
P.S. Not noticed any condensation when using the gas heater.
Thanks for all your replies. This is the first time I've ventured into the forums and got a bit lost! Am now thinking should of put money towards hook up but will need to persuade OH as he is a die hard camper and thinks I'm making camping too comfy! Maybe next year!
Having electric hook up does extend your camping season a bit, but there's no reason you can't be just as comfortable in the summer months using gas and battery power.
Have a great weekend camping and take care. Just be sensible with your heater and you'll be fine. Oh and welcome to UKCS.
Hi There, we caved in and bought one of these last year when we spent two weeks in the rain in Yorkshire! It was a life saver! However our gas bottle has run out and its £22 for a refill! Have persuaded the other half to go for hook up and a fan heater! have yet to try it out hope to do so next week!
