not had a caravan for nearly 20 years, thinking about an abbey spectrum 419 2004/5 any advice for me, thank you

the trouble is an over the counter damp meter is only any good if its bad damp not when its just starting. My servicers have found damp in a corner of my van. (under warranty thank goodness) but it doesnt register on my damp meter.
