On my way to work this morning, Mansfield to Leicester 0645-0745, there must have been over 100 caravans on the road, normally see a few but some very earlier starters today, looks like its going to be a busy one !

Well I will add to that number of caravans in about 4 hours, creating the obligatory traffic jam to the lake district.

Yeah, we chickened out of going today as we can't be sure when OH is going to get home from work - at some stupid debrief. Anyway, we'll gather the gear tonight, pack tomorrow morning after a hearty breakfast (I'm thinking pancakes, bacon and maple syrup...), get the caravan out of storage then add to the fun on the roads!!

Heading south on the A80 with all the roadworks around Castle Cary Arches - can't wait!!

Thanks for the heads up, though. To pass the time, we each announce at the start of an outing how many caravans we think we'll see on our journey so I think I'll need to up my estimate for tomorrow!

we are heading north in about 2 hours, forth bridge here we come lol..... hope the weather is as good as it suggests. my homepage says that uk to be as hot as spain this weekend.

It has been a nightmare to get a last minute booking this weekend. It is not a holiday for us this weekend, kids are at school Friday & Monday, and last night I phoned 18 sites in central Scotland before I got booked!

Hope the roads are not too bad this afternoon!

When we went away for easter BH (we went on BH mon when most were coming back) our daughter counted over 200 caravans on the M6 from getting on at J16 and stopping at the Lancaster services. Luckily they were going southbound, the opposite way to us!!

Going to work this morning at 8am Sandiacre to Loughbourough one long line of caravans on the A6/A6090 coming home 5.30pm still one long line on same roads don't know if this is due to Glastonbudget at Whymeswold any one on here going? they have a fab weekend of weather to look forward to. hope they have packed the sun cream lol

Lost count on the way home at lunch time after i got to 100+, did however warn a couple with a Freelander that one of their leads was dragging along the M1 . They did pull over straight away just before J25 NB, did notice as well their hitch looked a strange angle, almost 45 degrees over to the left, looking from behind the car, didn't look right to me

I know there is some movement but...

We stayed at The Laurels campsite near Wadebridge til this morning and they had at least 8 spaces vacant if anyone is still looking. Very nice small site, neat and clean. Coming back to Gloucester around noon the M5 towards Bristol and on to Exeter was choked solid, moving very slowly.

The long line of caravans could be something to do with The Caravan Club National Rally at Prestwold Hall Loughborough

I'm here now and there are thousands of caravans and the weather is fantastic we're having a fab time

we took some things to our van today ready for us going away on weds and normally thier is about 1000 vans in storage but there must have been 400 missing so its a busy day on the roads, as we passed over the M1 going to our storage my OH could see 9 outfits on the north bound side. The last time we went to our van (last week) there must have been 40 or so brand new vans , today there was only about 15 / 20 at a guess so it looks a good year for dealers.. atb Bill
