hi all,

just started getting a quote for euro cover with the AA and was stoped dead by them due to my Van being over 7m in length (7.19m in fact).

Has anyone else had this problem or is everyone else a bit laps with the truth ?

any help, I can't believe this is a one off problem ??

standard company's offering breakdown cover do not ,in spite of what they seem to say in their policy wording, fully cover all eventuality's in regards to your caravan/trailor.

points to check are

will they recover the van if the car is NOT being recovered ie.an accident making the car a uneconomic repair (mainly applies to travel abroad)

will they attend or recover the van if a problem is soley on the c/van & or,not attached to  the car

do they cover the length of your van

I have CSMA premum cover which covers car & van abroad & in uk BUT found that in the case of an accident making the car an un-econnomic repair they will not attend or recover the van as they deem it your car insurers responsability,& my insurers will not recover the van either . I opted to buy red pennant for complete cover abroad

I am new to caravaning   and have been trying to sort out my Insurance as well and what I have found is that all these things are NOT like sorting out Home / Car insurance, you have to read the small print as so many of the insurance companies don't cover the things like road accident cover.  I have also found that some of the more expenceive insurers done cover the basic stuff without you paying more on the premium. 

I have come to the conclusion caravaning is like owning a boat (which I also have), they are a priemium Items, so you will pay more for the basic things if you don't do your homework and shop around.

I will have a look at CC insurance and see what falls from the tree ...lol
