Hi redheads, a lot of sites now are insisting on breathable groundsheets. The Eco matting is a good one or if you can splash the cash got a Bolon. When we had our FC we had an Eco one (rubbery feeling) but under the inner tent we were allowed a fully waterproof one. If you are unsure ask at the campsite you are going to. Look on Ebay if you have time to wait before you need it or look in your local ads. Good luck, Gary
We have both the eco and the Kampa easy tread (close weave) and must say I prefer the Kampa. It's not as heavy as the eco as it is not as thick but I find these points an advantage. It's easy to clean, packs small and comes in it's own carry bag.
Definitely get a close weave one with holes smaller than the average worm. We used to have a breathable groundsheet (Eastex I think it was called, or was it Westex......) and the holes looked quite small. Within 10 minutes though the worms would pop up to have a look and then get stuck, then they'd get stood on by one of our three kids. Believe me when i say it's not fun pulling out worms with split gungy-bits hanging out. Shudder. That was in our Trailer Tent though. We don't use any groundsheets in our caravan porch awning now.
