We are about to buy our second caravan, our first only cost £150 and is new at the end of it's useful life.
We now have a budget of £5000 for our next caravan (4/5 berth family van).
We have looked at most of our local dealers in the past 2 months. One thing I have noticed is that the advertised prices are always a lot higher than what I have seen in price guides.
Do dealers normaly expect buyers to haggle? if so what is considered a reasonable offer to make on caravans advertised in the £5000 to £6000 price range.
A dealer a good few miles from home had the 'van i wanted to see in stock and he offered a starter pack with all 'vans. Then i saw the GT60 but not in the 540/6 so i went to another dealer and dh asked if he would give the same starter pack and though he doesn't normally he would do. With this in mind we went to our local dealer and asked for the same and some more and he was willing. As we got all the extra's and more that we wanted we didn't get a discount.
Depends if you need all the extra's or want a discount. But do haggle with them, i think they expect it.
Most of the vans we have looked at so far in our price range are '94 to '03 what I would like to do is get the newest van for the cash we have to spend.
We have seen some very nice ones post '03 but most are in the £6000 - £8000 price range, so are above our budget.
We paid £5000 for ours back in Feb. It was the full price but included a starter pack (awning, waste master, aqua roll, step, stabiliser & also a new battery).
