Further to my post regarding the ATC actuation rod having pulled out on my ATC causing the brakes to seize.
Although I had previously received phone advice from Alko's service manager Alko's Paul Jones responded to my post and offered to come out to check over the ATC.
Just over a week ago Paul Jones of Alko and Glenn, an Alko engineer, visited our 'van at our home in St Helens, Merseyside. This entailed a 3 hour, each way, special journey and they then spent 3 hours thoroughly checking over the ATC and brakes. After they had hooked up their computer they were able to confirm that the ATC was now working correctly. They, also, adjusted the brakes a little. Subsequently Paul sent me a detailed written report on their inspection including details of the ATC's memory readout.
The problem with the actuation rod becoming disconnected causing the brakes to seize on was apparently caused by the poor adjustment of the brakes. The only other problem with the ATC was a question mark over the electricity supply to the ATC being recorded as being low on several occasions - I will be looking into this. Paul, also, sent me written replies to a list of questions which I left for him, I was, unfortunately unable to be present for the inspection but my wife commented on the polite and helpful attitude of both visitors.
I would like to clearly put it on record that I was VERY IMPRESSED by the EXCELLENT service provided by Alko and for which I am very grateful. This excellent customer service is particularly praiseworthy as I had actually had the ATC retro-fitted by CMI. This visit and subsequent report was provided completely free of charge.
I am now reassured that the problems I experienced with ATC were caused by problems with the adjustment of the brakes. I am looking forward to our long summer break on the Continent with the added security and peace of mind of ATC.
I did have concerns about the ATC but I would like to reiterate that I am now completely reassured that the ATC was not at fault. I would like to endorse ATC and the service I have received from Alko.
As I posted my original concerns on several caravanning websites I am doing the same with this post.
Regards
Tim
