Interesting series of pictures relating to caravan accidents here
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K4wCzTTaihs
Picture one shows the death of a Dethleffs van (so, a solemn moment of silence from all German caravan lovers at this point ) while photo number 3 shows what happens when a motor caravan becomes involved in an accident.
When I owned Motorhomes I was always conscious of the risk to my family travelling in the passenger seats - yes, they had seat belts, but I was well aware that the body of the Motorhome offered about as much protection to them as an eggshell!
The pic gives a sobering insight into what could happen. At least we caravanners travel in steel cars that have been rigorously tested for safety - how on earth the Motorcaravan manufacturers continue to get away with selling coachbuilt models with passenger seats in the main body, I don't know!
