Hi all,

we are going away in our new van this weekend (shame about the weather change) and would just like to clarify my electrics.

There is a battery meter with three settings, car, off and on. Obviously when we are driving it is set to the car but what do i do when i get on site and plug in a hook up?
Do i turn it to off or on? I would assume the charger unit will charge it and the 12v stuff runs through the hook up.

Can anybody enlighten me?

Set the 3 way switch to on. The battery will charge from the hookup mains and the will be maintained. If you turn it to off then you will not charge the battery.

It's actually 240 volts which runs through the hook-up, it goes

1) into a transformer in the van which then charges the battery and supplies 12v to those bits which are 12v

and

2) directly to the 240v lights and mains plugs

i dont think our van has a transformer and the previous owner left a batterycharger beside the battery.does that need to be attached all the time im onsite?

No, just attach it when the battery gets low and needs re-charging.
