Hello my name is lauren and i am a student at Lancaster university. I am doing a student project as part of my degree for a company in North Lake District. The reason i am asking for your help is because the company is interested in diversifying into some caravan storage and want to know how much people are prepared to pay etc.... and unfortunatly i don't know many caravan owners to ask. So if any one has 5 mins spare and could answer a few questions i would be very very very greatful.

(i also have this interview in gerneral chat but thought more people would read it here. I am a genuine student im not getting paid to do this project it is part of my course)

Thank you in advance :)

1.      Which county do you live in?

2.      Do you currently store your caravan away from your premises?

If yes-

3.      Where is it stored (name of site)

4.      Is it stored near to your home or a frequent destination?

5.      How much do you pay and what facilities do you get for this?

6.      What medium did you use to find this site?

e.g. internet, local magazine etc...

All

7.      What facilities would encourage you to use a caravan storage facility?

-          Secure metal fencing around the perimeter

-          Guard dogs

-          CCTV

-          Onsite presence 24/7

-          Caravan servicing

-          Free damp check

-          Other please detail........

-          Cleaning prior to collection

-          Access to caravan times

-          Use all security features provided

-          Towing services to local camping sites

-          Under cover

-          Other please specify_____________________________________________________

8.      For the above choices what would be the maximum you would be prepared to pay for 12 months storage?

9.      Which of the above would you see as extras not included in the yearly fee and as such be prepared to pay extra for?

10.  Would you be interested in a towing service to and from a campsite within the county in which your caravan is stored? If yes what price would you pay for this?

Would towing your caravan down a few narrow lanes affect your decision to store your caravan there? If yes why?

Would suggest that you start project at the other end, by contacting storage sites.

As Simon23 said, not many people would want to pass out so much detail as you want,

So instead of asking for name of storage site, ask wether it is an accredited storage site and if so what level, or wether its other.
I know that if i gave the name of my storage site out in a randam information request on the internet, that the owners would not be pleased at all.
As this site can be read by anyone who has access to a computer, therefore giving general location and site name gives those not so honest and light fingered more oportunities to relieve those of us that have worked hard for our possesions.

The biggest thing effecting the choice of storage site is the "Cassoa" registration. This is an independent organisation who rate storage sites or compounds with bronze, silver and gold depending on the security. There are also discounts on insurance for those using better secured storage. There are also large variation in price depending on area. As it goes I just managed to squeeze my van on my drive so will be cancelling my storage tomorrow and saving £90 a quarter. I will also consider cancelling the insurance as the van is not worth much and I have 3rd party insurance when towing on the car. When it's not being towed, there's not much else it can make contact with anyway.
