We find our PDQ porch awning very functional for short stays & has stood upto some heavy storms. Must admit don't leave it on the awning rail when we get back home, as it comes off easily & we like the option of using our full awning for longer stays.
It definatly serves our purpose as i have arthritis & find it nice & light to handle, very quick & easy to erect as well as taking it down. It travels coveniently on the rail making for a very speedy erection on site. I store ours in the summer house when not in use making sure dry first.
I agree the bag can gather water but the way we use it doesn't bother us, certainly not to the extent of outweighing the advantages. We bought ours 2nd hand from a guy in Nantwich that Eric recomended - so we still consider ours a bargain.plus a good back up to our full awning which take a lot more time & effort to erect & take down.
Cheers
