hi just after some advice on weight of caravan.

 

I have just bought an ABI monza 400 D (1989) and on the side it has a plate with the following on:

0 - 850 KG

1 - 75 KG

2 - 580 KG

does this mean 580KG for weight of caravan and 850KG for max weight (ie 270kg additional load allowed? also what does the 75kg refer to?

I'd agree - what else could it be with that low a weight?  I think your assumptions of the other figures is probably correct.  They are very similar to a Monza we had in 1983.

Yes, that's right:

0 - 850 KG - MAW, now known as MTPLM

1 - 75 KG - Max.Noseweight

2 - 580 KG - Unladen weight, now known as MIRO

MIRO (Mass In Running Order)

People look at this when buying and do not know that it does not include..

Gas bottle(s)
Battery
Water containers
Toilet chemicals
Step.

etc..etc..

Which most of us need to use the van.

These items can take a good sized chunk out of the luggage capacity. Enough to push some people over the legal limits.
