I have just received new Sky biewing cards which I understand every one will be getting.

Can anyone who has received the new cards, let me know if they still work if you take them onto the caravan and use them in another sky box?

i asked SKY when i got my card if i could use it in the caravan and he said yes you can.not got a new one yet.

You can get most of the free channels without a card, the main one missing is Ch5, I run 2 extra boxes off my dish and recieve the freebies this way, you can pay sky a one off £20 to get a freeview card and get ch5 this also 'localises' your ITV &BBC channel to Granada, central etc.

For anyone who has a sky+ box at home, you probably have a quad LNB on the dish, thats 2 spare outputs just waiting to be used! I managed to pick up 2 free sky digi boxes then stuck them in the kitchen and bedroom.

We are waiting for an upgrade hubby did try taking his card to step dads house once as he had fullsports package, the card didn't work as each card was registered to the particular sky box and end result when we got back he had to ring sky and have it rebooted, because the card had been out of the sky box for two hours and there was some sort of automatic cut off.  Presume its still the same as this was a couple of years ago!

What I was more thinking of was, if the new cards that are being sent out will still actually work if put into a different box from the house when used in the van.

I actually have purchased a different box which I leave in the van and just use the card from my home box at the weekend to save disconnecting the unit each time to take from home.Of course  do not get the subscription channels like movies but that does not bother me whilst away in the van.

I was wondering if there is some change on the chip on the new card, that will still allow the card to work in in the box in the van, before I pair the new card to the box in the house. If it wont I may get sky to pair the new card with my box in the van and move that to the house whilst at home as it is a newer box?
