Hi, Has anyone seen anything about a M.O.T. test for trailers and caravans?,

I spoke with a few mechanics who said it will be in by next year, but it could be just talk,

No, but towbars are now included in the test. As far as I am concerned, this is good news. Wouldn't you rather know if there was a problem with your towbar, so that you could do someting about it, rather than carry on regardless?

It would bring us into line with many other European countries, although they do only MOT every 2yrs(cars as well)

imho caravans should also have their own numberplates & V5 docs, same as cars, as in most other Euro countries.

I have no problem with tests, my discovery tows quite large trailers as well as my caravan and both are well serviced, i was only asking if it was correct or not.

I like this bit stated by the devon council offiicial -

I presume he means payload weight, but even then that sounds incredible.

i agree i think as in europe all our road going wether motor or trailers should have some sort of mot hgv trailers already are and im sure we have all winced at some ones tyres at some time!!!!
