HI there.
Father has a problem with his battery charger and we are not sure that its charging the battery.
the red light is on at the top. Previously the charger seemed to be arcing but has now stopped. he has fitted a new fully charged leisure battery . but what quick and easy way can i check to make sure its getting charged.
I do have a multi metre but not surewhat settings it need to be on should this be used. Also should I still be able to use 12v lighting without the battery being hooked up.

Dissconnect one of the battery leads and put the multimeter, set to a range that covers 12v DC, across the battery terminal that you have left on, and the loose lead that you took off. You should get a reading of about 13 volts if the charger is working.
