There are nuerous discussions on this topic and everyone has there own views on the better one.  We are with the Camping & Caravanning Club simply because they do a family deal which works out cheper than the Caravan Club.

We are in the caravan club and have found them to be very helpful. We also like the standards of their sites and they have more sites than the camping and caravan club. We use a whole mixture of their sites from CL's to their 5 stars. We have friends who have joined both - its a personal choice.

We did both some years ago and decided caravan club was better for us - but may rejoin caravan and camping club as some of their sites are where we want to go.

We prefer caravan cub sites, as mostly you can choose your pitch and there is no deposit when booking on line, so for the odd occasion when we have a disaster like the clutch going on the car we don't loose a deposit as well.

We are in both, the standard of the CC is a slightly better, no deposit required when booking a pitch, this means most sites are booked every weekend.

Thanks for posting these responses as I was just about to fost the question.

It seems you just have to try one and see if it works for you.

I'd like to try the CC this year but can't get a clear idea on some questions i have so hopefully someone can answer me?

Does the CC do a family deal like the CC&C do?  Do they charge extra for dogs?  Is the £7+ pitch charge not added on for members?  What is the best way to join?  On the site or online/over the phone?  If you join on site at cc&c sites they get extra money for it and if the cc do then i'd rather do that?

Thanks

Jeannie

If you are looking to use your van frequently.....join both as it will give you a far bigger range of sites to choose from and you will save the cost of membership in no time compared to non-members. You will also get their Magazines each month to keep you up-to-date with what's going on in the caravan & camping world.....it's almost worth it for those alone.

You will also get their Magazines each month to keep you up-to-date with what's going on in the caravan & camping world.....it's almost worth it for those alone.

The CC magazine is fine - generally well written, useful, and not at all condescending.

The CC mag is very different 17  - Think, 'Daily Star meets Britain's Got Talent' and you start to get an idea of its awfulness!

The editorial team obviously decided a long time ago that its readership were all devotees of the lowest tabloid newspapers, and adjusted their own output to suit the perceived lack of intelligence among club members.

It's not so much a 'Magazine' as a relentlessly cheerful propaganda sheet  ('It's YOUR Club',  Smile for YOUR Club',   'Come and do unpaid work for YOUR Club',  'These are the highly paid executives at HQ who work their manicured fingers to the bone in order to run YOUR Club' - that sort of nonsense) with each ghastly page of 'Pack up your troubles and smile' exhortations preceded by two more selling 'Club' branded financial products.

It's actually quite insulting, a tacit assumption that the majority of the membership must necessarily possess single digit IQ's - and the wretched business is not helped by the numerous photographs of Club bigwigs living high on the hog with generous expense accounts and all the other perks that they appear to find essential as they labour manfully to run Your Club'....

The grass roots membership are fine - you'll get the best weekend rallies and temporary holiday sites available - but the cabal at Greefields House ride on the backs of the ordinary members, contributing little, and taking a great deal.

On the other hand, if you simply adore new photo's  of the ruling council beaming and smiling at you from every issue - then you're in for a treat
