hi their i was wondering if any 1 could tell me the right conection to wire up the indicater bleeper their wasn,t 1 on my shogun when i bought it i put 1 on and it works fine when the caravan is pluged in and the engine isn,t ruing but as soon as i start the engine the bleeper stops any ideas would be great many thanks shaun
the beeper was 1 i bought from my local caravan center and they told me it was all i needed just to wire it in as the instructions specifie it only as 2 wires which supose to be wired in between the rear indicator and the indicator wires on the tow bar electrics theirs no relay with it . it works when the van is hooked up but not when the engine is runing and i cant work it out i was gone take it out and restart over again
There's something odd there, I can't put my finger on it. How does it wire across the two indicators without relay or interface if only two wires? A sinlge buzzer would at least need input from each indicator via a diode, plus the earth connection. A full trailer sounder should have an input from each indicator, outputs to the socket + earth.
my mistake it dose have 3 wiers yellow =l turn green = r turn and white = earth . going to re wire it today then take shogun down to the caravan which is in storage to try it out thanks for the help will let you no how it goes probley put a wire in the wrong place just my luck
Sounds like the same as mine. I can't remember which colour was which, but one went to the flasher unit, one went to the supply to the flasher unit (cut the wire and run through the beeper) the other one went to earth. Think the earth was black, but not sure about which way around the yellow and white were. I recon you have the same as me and have wired it up completely wrong and in the wrong place. Does it look like this?
I have a more conventional one with five wires in my toolbox if you are in the South Wales area. Not really worth posting as you can pick them up from a towbar fitter locally for a few pounds.
ive re wired the bleeper now and it seems to be working fine now not sure what i did wrong first time round must have had it wired up wrong some ware a long the line i allso noticed that who ever had the shogun before me as put a light in the dash which only flashes when the caravan is hooked up and pluged in comes on with the indicators
Pleased to hear you got it sorted, I'd forgotten about these 3 wire units. Do these need adjustment to recognise the extra current drawn when a trailers connected? I've only used the five wire versions which work no problem, but I may fit a secondary buzzer in the front as I've purposelly 'muffled' the one in the rear (or perhaps a lamp indicator)
I find mine temperamental as when it is hot and sunny it sometimes beeps once when I first indicate, even when the caravan is not connected/ When it is cold, sometimes it only beeps once when the caravan is connected. I bought it for two reasons, firstly, the ones in the boot can hardly be heard and secondly, it has a separate buzzer which can be cut off and have a light fitted in it's place.
Out of interest, did you fit yours between the flashe unit and the switch or between the flasher unit and the supply? When I fitted mine between the flasher unit and the switch as the instructions tell you the indicators stopped working and the flasher unit buzzed continuously.
There is a small screwdriver slot to adjust the sensitivity if I recall correctly.
